The Art of the Cowboy Makers Contest is held annually in conjunction with the Loveland Old West Round-Up Western Collectable show produced by Round-Up Productions, LLC.  Each year contemporary makers bring their best work and compete for silver trophy buckles, cash prizes and ribbons.

The winners in each category are determined by two separate votes. The makers are judged first by their peers; quality of craftsmanship is the hallmark of this award. Makers are voted on by makers - those who know the skill and the quality of materials that are used.

The second vote is cast by the public, those attending the western collectable show, and it is presented as the "People's Choice" award.  The People's Choice winners know that they have captured the  viewers with their  quality of craftsmanship as well as their artistic flair.

The makers were invited to an exhibit at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and American Cowboy Museum, in Colorado Springs. The exhibit runs from June 20 - September 9, 2011. Each makers' work will be seen by thousands who visit the ProRodeo Hall of Fame each summer.

Contest dates for 2012 are June 15-17. The contest will be housed at the Larimer Co. Fairgrounds, The Ranch, in Loveland, CO.  For more information on the contest, an application and rules, please go directly to their website at www.artofthecowboymakers.com
